CAMPAIGNS

Integrity Icon in Zimbabwe

The Integrity Icon campaign was launched in Zimbabwe in 2021. Nominees included educators providing students with extra lessons for no pay, and others who built vey successful after-school programs as a response to the decline in formal education centers. Those nominated from the higher education sector included champions of digital literacy and competency. From the health sector, nominees included frontline medical personnel who worked tirelessly to treat patients through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our related Integrity Film Fellowship is implemented through Magamba Network. In 2021 the Fellowship recruited the inaugural cohort of Fellows who produced 10 powerful films that were screened across 5 provinces. The Fellowship premiered these films at the Bokola Film Festival.

Voice2Rep

Voice to Represent (“Voice2Rep”) is a first-of-its-kind music competition searching for conscious music artists who support greater representation, participation and accountability. It gives rising stars a platform to make their voices heard, connect with socially-conscious leaders in the music industry, and build the skills they need to shape the future of the country through music.

Tanaka Stephen Moyo, also known as Ndonzi Beatx, is a previous winner of the public vote for the Voice2Rep Zimbabwe campaign. Tanaka joined the competition to gain skills to work with youths in his community. Listen to Tanaka’s winning song, ‘Escape’, on the Power album. Since winning Voice2Rep, Tanaka has shared the stage with African rhumba star, Fally Ipupa. He has also collaborated with the Zimbabwe CivActs Project to produce Mhere, a song about the challenges Mbare residents face.

Voice2Rep artists have also collaborated on an innovative Rap Report – a news show that uses rap music to highlight some of the prevalent issues in Zimbabwe. The pilot episode was done in collaboration with alumni, SVSHV and KNG BL.
