Accountability Accelerator Grants
The Accountability Accelerator Grant (AAG) supports alumni of the Accountability Lab’s Accountability Incubator, Film Fellowship, and Voice2Rep to scale up and accelerate their work promoting citizen participation, open government, and accountability in their communities. All participants in the Zimbabwe component of these projects from 2020 to 2023 are eligible for the Grant. Through the AAG, alumni can collaborate within and across fellowships on projects of mutual interest that advance accountability within their communities. AAG-funded projects should be implemented in between 4 – 8 weeks.
The Accountability Accelerator Grant aims to provide resources to alumni of Accountability Lab Zimbabwe’s Accountability Incubator, Film Fellowship, and Voice2Rep to scale up their work in their communities through staging short-term projects that directly benefit their communities.
Funding Information
Accountability Lab Zimbabwe will provide grants of between $5,000 and $10,000 per selected project directly impacting the community on a key accountability issue.
Beneficiaries will implement short-term projects of no more than 8 weeks.

Selection Criteria
In line with its vision, mission, values, and 2023–2026 Global Strategy, Accountability Lab is seeking applications promoting open government, participation, and accountability in communities that meet the following key criteria:
- The applicant must be a current participant or alumni of Accountability Lab Zimbabwe’s Accountability Incubator, Film Fellowship, or Voice2Rep programs.
- Projects must be implemented within Zimbabwe.
- Applications must align with the Accountability Lab’s values of Integrity, Innovation, Humility, Practicality, and Collaboration:

Inspired by creativity, forward-thinking, new ideas, and risk-taking
Humility
Respect for local people and their ability to create change in their communities
Practicality
Create useful tools that are sustainable and scalable

- Applications must focus on one of the Accountability Lab’s priority strategic themes: inclusion, climate justice, digital governance, and civic agency:

- Inclusion: Focus on the voices of women, young people, people with disabilities, and those excluded from decision-making
- Climate Justice: Strengthen inclusive governance of natural resources and land, climate adaptation, resilience programs, and equitable energy transition
- Digital Governance: Leverage technology for good governance, digital rights, data protection/privacy, and digital surveillance
- Civic Agency: Strengthen participation in democratic/governance processes, media freedoms, and electoral processes
- Applications must demonstrate impact on the community
- Applications should have a clear theory of change, i.e. how activities will lead to the envisioned impact
- For collaborative projects, the application must clarify the project lead and the roles of other parties
Eligibility Requirements
All alumni and participants of Accountability Lab Zimbabwe’s Accountability Incubator, Film Fellowship, and Voice2Rep Zimbabwe are eligible.
