Chiedza Sasa is part of a seven-member team of Political Science and Diplomacy students theorising solutions to development challenges in Zimbabwe. Sasa’s team project tries to bridge the disconnect between local authorities and citizens in Chitungwiza by addressing several pressing challenges affecting the community including waste management, sanitation and maternal health.
“The problem and solution approach helps to highlight the progress within a society. By working with citizens and instilling a sense of community and Ubuntu this project will foster accountability within citizens that we hope will cascade to local and even national authorities.”
Their project will establish accountability platforms to foster meaningful engagement between citizens and authorities. The project is implemented through the University of Zimbabwe’s Department of Governance and Public Management and the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences.
